beach week - best travel kits

in an ideal world we'd all have a stash of travel sized everything ready to go. and it would be the good stuff. because the good stuff is affordable when it comes in travel size. we'd probably also travel a lot in this ideal world. and have no cellulite.

i picked a few that look like worthy additions to my toiletries bag...ranging from shampoo, conditioner and everything you need for your face and body to vitamins and sleep inducers.

1. diptyque the art of body care - includes a revitalizing shower gel, a smoothing body polish, a fresh lotion with orange blossom water and macadamia nut oil and then a luxurious hand balm. that and a sunscreen is all you need body-wise. plus when did anything from diptyque not make you feel extra pumped about life?

2. original and mineral mini styling kit - a detangling spray, a sea salt texture spray and a thickening spray. aka easy beach hair.

3. bumble and bumble invisible oil set - this stuff is great great great. especially after long days in the sun and pool. comes with a shampoo, conditioner and a UV protectant.

4. moon juice moon dust sachet sampler box - this one is definitely going with me to the beach.

5. ren pure glow trio - a cleansing balm (my favorite kind of cleanser), radiance mask and flash rinse facial.

6. ouai morning after kit - i am a HUGE fan of ouai products. i have used 4 of their shampoos and conditioners and i love them. i'm also a repeat customer with everything i've ever used. and am anxiously waiting to try their newest product: the rose hair and body oil. which this kit includes....in addition to the finishing cream (i love and use every day and is a godsend for shitty ends) and the dry shampoo foam.

7. this works the big sleep set - this is a luxury for sure but i can see how beneficial it could be after a long day of traveling. i for one have a real hard time sleeping in a new place and a different bed. includes a bath soak, pillow spray, inhaling thing-y, night oil and sleep mask. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

8. ole henriksen traveling wonders - everything you need for your face. a cleanser, and anti-aging serum, a moisturizer, a night gel and an eye gel.

my jaw fell on the floor when i saw this seaside cabin on the riviera.

this wallpaper. cheap, removable and delightful.

this purifying shampoo is awesome. the smell is intoxicating and it made both my color treated hair and fiona's tween hair (grease and dandruff) bouncy and clean and soft. i didn't even have to use conditioner on her hair.

mansplaining y'all. it's so real and so gross and men don't even know they do it. this video of a new yorker contributor and panel moderator mansplaining a female scientist's own theories...TO HER...is enough to make you want to hurl an axe at his head. an audience member finally shouts "let her speak!" FF to 1:05:00.

your weekend cocktail: i still swear by this g&t.

i will never tire of looking at this garden. those irises. but really everything. the mist, the light, the green.

if i had a farmhouse

i don't think it's a surprise to any of you that my dream is to have a home in the country. i am not married to any one style, but there are criteria...and yet i am flexible. if i'm putting my foot down the house has to be old. before 1930. 2 stories. 4-5 bedrooms. somewhat crumbling, but only in the good parts....think peeling wallpaper not holes in the roof. an out building that would be used as an event space in the future. oh, i have plans. think supper clubs not weddings.

mostly it would just be a weekend escape (or week should the need arise) for anyone who wants to go. probably primarily me but also you.

in terms of the style/decor as i said- not married to anything because the house itself would decide which direction i went in but in my head it's classic american farmhouse meets european farmhouse. white painted floors (depending on the condition of the floors. stone floors wouldn't suck), white walls but i'd probably wallpaper something and would love some antique floor tiles somewhere. kitchen? mudroom? entry?

one thing i DO know is i would never put any finish or fixture in it that didn't look like it belonged there. no custom cabinetry. no serge mouille lighting. not that i don't love me some serge but just not in my farmhouse.

i have lots of inspiration that i've accumulated. brace yourselves.

did i mention mown paths through wild grasses? that too ok?

i've got a thing for white dresses. primarily because white looks good on me. maybe it looks good on everyone? i'd like to think that it takes the place of the black dress in summer because who would even do that?!?!
