i've let my carb intake exceed my usual limits lately and as a result i have put on 5 lbs. all 5 of which go straight to my boobs (not as great as you might think), arms and gut. the good news is i have lost 2 of those pounds in just 3 days. the bad news is is all i want are those pancakes.

who is watching sharp objects? i'm only on the 2nd episode so no spoilers but, it's gooood. creepy and leaves me feeling a little paranoid after it's over but i am completely compelled during. so much to look at and notice.

i'm making these coconut chocolate chip cookies this weekend. they are paleo and use homemade chocolate chips!

the sturdy loafer

i've wanted a pair of loafers for a long time. i never buy them, because dumb. i had a pair in 8th grade that were THE BEST. kind of an oxblood color, made by old maine trotters...a tassel. they upgraded my preppy vibe by a zillion. i've not had a pair since. my tastes have changed a bit and i clearly have a new type: black, a bit of a heel, maybe a dash of hardware. i love them with shorts, skirts, jeans, dresses, no socks and with socks. basically anything.

i've rounded up some of my faves...from high ($$$) to somewhere in the middle ($$-$$$). the thing is i think a loafer is more or less an everyday shoe so in the name of practicality it has to be comfy. so probably not cheap. but maybe not gucci money either because they'd probably be worn to death. and who wants to scuff the gucci? although i'm certainly debating these.

did you know that grace coddington and her partner, hairstylist didier malige have a long island retreat filled with all the things? read about it here.

i'm particularly impressed with the kitchen and want to see more. it appears to be modern with euro touches- my fave. my dream. i have loved all things le fanion for a while and couldn't be more pleased with seeing their tiles against the fresh wood cabinetry.

also love the wall of cat photography and the slipcovered george sherlock sofas. but really let's face it- i love everything. even the dusty steiff cat collection (small fortune) on the ledges.

i like these jeans a lot. and i like very much the price tag.

also:

these baskets, fans, bins and containers from africa. who doesn't love a woven basket?!

talk about the look for less. i mean, let's face it...these are straight up copies. i'm not sure how i feel about it. but i do know this animal print skirt is a lot more $$ and perpetually sold out. so maybe the imitation would make a decent substitute...you know..until the real thing is back in stock.

can we talk about catherine baba for a sec? how have i never heard of her? i'd like to be her. or at the very least hire her. you can read about her here and here.

these rings are really pretty. and relatively inexpensive. kind of just right. perfect for stacking or one-on-every-finger kind of styling.

i have perfect english farmhouse and perfect english cottage. so i'm obviously going to need perfect english townhouse. i mean, look at some of the insides.

this is a marvelous looking blazer. to wear with your bike shorts (wink wink). ok, your jeans. basically anything.

20 signs of a hard winter. that acorn thing. noticed it today. it's far too early for the acorns dropping in my neck of the woods. just sayin.
