friday things comin' in late but hot
what a week. i don’t even know if i’ve mentioned this (i get my instagram/blog audiences crossed sometimes) but we are having a giant yard sale on saturday and let me tell you - having a yard sale is work that really eats dick. i’m exhausted. of course my type A personality has me making sure everything is. just. right. i washed and dried and folded TWENTY (read that again) bags of clothes and sticker’d almost all of it. the stickers were late. twice. (wow amazon prime, way to be prime.) anyway that lateness (twice) really set me back. but i finally just finished sticker’n the clothes. which means i’m sipping on a strong pinot noir wishing it were infused with cocaine bc i have a lot more shit to do. my living room looks like a thrift store, my back looks like scoliosis and i’m high on marker fumes.
but let’s dive into the things…
having a yard sale? me toooo!! i found this article and this one very helpful. also, my takeaways from both of these articles and personal experience: you really do need to start planning a month in advance. write a calendar of chores, martha stewart style, and stick to it. for example: week 1- take inventory with PEN AND PAPER of all the things you have to sell. week 2- sort that shit. price it as you sort. trust me here. and order your pricing stickers waaaaaaay ahead of time because they will be late. TWICE.
2. i made pork chops with apples and cider pan sauce and posted it in my insta stories and i got a lot (5) of DMs. i even got a phone call from my friend who needed to know the hard and fast facts.
here’s the recipe. it’s great.
3. halloween approach-eth. indoor halloween decor is typically the worst. but this floral centerpiece is just spooky enough.
4. i do my best internet surfing over coffee at 7 am. this before and after is pretty fucking astounding. esp. when you see the before. those ferns tho.
5. how bout an amazon page made by me of all the best bits? sounds great right? so far my beauty faves (and they really are), kitchen must haves (those too), household essentials and some other great ones. they are always 100 percent approved by me.
ok then. bye.
fall feels
greetings on a wednesday.
just some things i’ve had my eye on for the old wardrobe.
how super cute is this little corduroy shift dress from madewell? comes in midnight blue which is equally pleasing. would be great now with the bareness of arms and legs while the weather is still warm-ish and great with all manner of long sleeve shirts when the temps drop and then why not over a pair of jeans?
saw this sherpa denim jacket on instagram the other day and i immediately hunted it down.
la veste is new to me and i love all their whimsical offerings.
i really like these corduroy shirts from uniqlo. i also like that they are under 20 bucks. they come in 4 excellent colors.
all the clare v. midi sacs are desirable. i love that you can switch up the straps. i have a strap. i get more compliments on that damn strap.
this emerson fry dress might be the perfect all occasion dress. seriously. pre-order now for delivery mid november. just in time for the holiday party circuit.
i’ve been trolling etsy for a little vintage crochet tank top. this one might be too small for any of us but it’s real cute.
these used velvet rochas flats are haunting my dreams.
friday things
do please watch…
i watched this on a whim the other night fully expecting to be disappointed but i fucking loved it. i had never heard of ben platt and he blew me away. this series definitely has shades of glee mixed with a healthy dose of wes anderson. thankfully it feels like an homage rather than a rip off. but it’s the performances that impressed me the most. and the sets and the clothes. lucy boynton is gorgeous in everything. give it a shot this weekend.
nothing remarkable about this house, in fact it’s incredibly dull. but him on the other hand…
have a great weekend my friends.
october vibes
here we are. best month of the year. apart from viruses it’s truly the most magical of all months. it’s a stunning 98 degrees in atlanta today but my weather app tells me there’s only one more day of this horseshit and then it spirals down into the low 80’s-high 70’s for the rest of the foreseeable future. praise hands emoji.
i fucking love october!
bring on the darkness!!!
lucy boynton in giant pearl headband
chinese vases on the altar table painting
marine serre moon jersey stretch leggings - someone knock these off in 3-2-1….
soul tarot cards - i have these and they are beautiful. the quality is sublime. they would make an excellent gift for a teenage girl.
black azilal rug - this is an excellent price for such a big rug. i mean, it would show no dirt! isn’t that what you want in a runner? also major october vibes.
spider switchplate cover - i seent this in person and it’s really great. they all are. would also make a great gift.
early new england gravestone and marker rubbings - cool.
saved ny green silk pillow and orange - i love everything they make.
emery et cie tiles - can you? even?
bless this mess
pardon our progress.
anyone out there interested in helping me change my blog a little?
must be familiar with squarespace.
hit me up.
in the meantime i’ve added a sketchbook section up there. if you follow on insta you’ll see i’ve been posting sketchbook musings for a while now. it’s my favorite thing to paint because i allow complete freedom for myself to explore without the pressure of “will anyone buy this?”
they aren’t for sale you see??
in other news…
my buddy kathleen jones has a pop up over at the furb. please snatch one of her pieces up before she’s so famous you couldn’t even afford her. she has such a fun, unique style.
alright then. have a good one.
but also, seriously, if you or someone you know wants to help me out with a site update email me.
