it’s spring and spring is hope eternal. so fear not, you shall have a pedicure soon, the good kind, with the scrub and lotion that smells like a florida strip club. and before you know it your shoulders will bare themselves in a crowd. your roots will meet their demise via a blanket of foils. etc.

it’s ok to look forward to a better time. in fact, it’s encouraged. i’m counting on it! i think right now retail therapy has never been more necessary. i spent a chunk of time on the h&m website looking at all the new spring things. these were hands down my favorite and all are under $50:

the perfect little pin tuck blouse for spring and summer.

this off the shoulder dress is currently unavailable but i have clicked the notify me button bc it’s just too good to pass on.

i’m here for a shacket. LOVE this one.

zebra platform sandals. i want to pull the trigger on these, but i have a pair of zebra mules. can i have zebra platforms too??!!!

a denim jacket is a spring staple. i like this cropped version and this oversized version too.

white denim jumpsuit. i like that this is $40.

rib collar dress. this looks easy and comfy.

i’d pair these cute tie strap sandals with that rib collar dress.

pink puff sleeves for $18.

these cute off white jeans look like reformation or everlane. 30 bucks. also come in reg. denim and black denim.

a new nylon parka for all those brisk walks you’re taking.

i was sleeping on this johanna ortiz collection for h&m. love this little puff sleeve tee. comes in black too. limited sizing obv.

creped dress - such an easy dress to wear. comes in black too which i also love.

and a cute color blocked pleated skirt with an ELASTICIZED WAISTBAND. go ahead, keep eating all the things.

first up are pauline and geoffrey walker. “an old english couple living their best life in faith”.

they are sweet and adorable and everything we need in these uncertain times.

katie merchant of thank you ok is a stylist and art director and it shows. her love of pastel shades and frivolity speaks to me deeply.

last but not least is ernie. ernie is my favorite dog of all time. ernie is snuggie in dog form. if there were a meet-n-greet with ernie within a 100 mile radius of me i’d get there. not only is ernie so so so spesh…his mom and dad are hilarious.

diversions

this image really nails it right? or maybe not. i don’t know. it certainly spoke to me- from the inside looking out, missing spring. everything outside looks the same but it’s not. am i being dramatic? also my windows are that dirty. and i can’t clean them because i can’t get the screens off. well, some of them i can but several of them are on there forever unless someone with tools and patience comes to remove them for me and i don’t know anyone who has both.

wherever you are i hope you’re self-quarantining.

here are some diversions for you:

have you seen the lavender ghost? a house in the hudson valley that is painted lavender (dead) on the outside and white on the inside. it makes a very strong case for the all white vibe. probably because of the architecture. in any case it’s dreamy and you should have a look. then immediately follow on instagram.

this tater tot casserole was delicious and easy. if you bought ground beef or turkey or even sausage give this midwestern hot dish a shot. you will also need tater tots.

the origins of “dead ringer”, “saved by the bell” and “the graveyard shift” are most disturbing. fun read though.

these floral clay wine stoppers are beautiful.

chicken francese. so easy and you probably stocked up on these ingredients in your covid shop.

i’ll take 6 of these dinner plates please.

small batch spring collages

i know the world is going to hell in a hand basket. you don’t have to remind me. and i don’t want to remind you either.

mike anderson went to the store yesterday and bought approximately 9,995 bags of frozen vegetables the likes of which i hope to christ never have to enter a pot. we have at least 6 dead chickens in our freezer (breasts and thighs only) and 7 jars of nutella in the pantry. before you even ask, YES there’s wine but curiously way less than nutella. i have gin, vodka, tequila and bourbon so if you’re willing to take your temp. at the door i am willing to let you in.

all joking aside- we are all immersed in this shit show together, so let’s rejoice in that and try to come out better humans. ok? also it is my sincerest hope that if you do contract this virus that it’s the mildest version imaginable and you bounce back soon.

in happier news..i have been working on some fun collages lately and i am thrilled to finally release them.

these collages were inspired by one of my favorite books the mysteries of harris burdick by chris van allsburg. i must have “read” that book a million times. the art was so provocative and the captions so cryptic. the story behind the story was so beguiling to me as a kid. seriously if you don’t know read this. but also my deep and pure obsession with fashion and flowers and an undying devotion to the abstract.

i do love a stripe

another cute lil french pad to drool over…

such a bright, fun and personal space.

i’m 99.9% sure the wall stripes are painted and that is certainly a project easier than wallpaper but in case you are challenged in that area, this is an affordable wallpaper alternative.

just go here for a ton of these sicilian head planters if that’s your thing. these are my favorite.

what i love about this apartment is the modern with the vintage. in my opinion the ONLY way to decorate. otherwise you are risking your whole space looking soulless immediately and dated in no time. which is why i think it’s crucial that you find the perfect mid century credenza for this look.

listen, i love a josef frank moment as much as the next bitch but that shit is expenZive for real and curtains??? LOL and congratulations money bags! this fabric is from ikea and is a similar vibe and at 5.99 a yard, you could make curtains for days. line them with something heavy and nice though.

b & w photography - comes in small to large.

i have always sort of rolled my eyes at these rhode ella dresses. so basic. but a cool french girl gives it immediate street cred. also leopard. also they really are universally flattering.

cabbage tureen - this vintage one is cute too. quite a few vintage versions at all price points here.

i am particularly drawn to the delicate lines of those black gio ponti chairs against the yellow stripes. these chairs from crate and barrel are a similar and more reasonable option. the dining table is a knock off. it’s got great reviews though.

charlotte chab is the artist who makes these incredible globes. you can personalize them too.

this sofa from west elm is a dead ringer for hers. love the mustard-y color. it has just the right amount of green.

and yes, i am always aware of the architecture…from that marble fireplace to the chevron floors, to the moldings and the floor to ceiling windows and, ugh, those french doors.…i know that those elements go a long way in making the modern furnishings look a type of way. still, i think you could run with this moodboard in a very plausible way. see the rest of this space here. so much more to ogle.
