last night i was stress scrolling and got caught in a teddy coat (specifically the max mara icon version) wormhole. maybe bc i was cold and needed a cocoon to keep me from slipping into the dark place? the mind works in mysterious ways. but LOL that coat is 4k. which is infuriating. mostly because i want it. but then i came across this dupe that is thousands less and potentially just as delightful and cocooning.

i have decided that this dress is excellent and have ordered both the black and cream. you can’t beat the price and the apparent versatility and ease of use.

this show you need to watch. immediately.

i see this candle in my dreams. the BIG one. i light it just before sinking into a bath. it is expensive but i don’t take that many baths and just one purchase of this candle buys 14 chemotherapy treatments for children through st. jude’s.

this cream is worth all your pennies. a little smeared onto your face before hitting the outdoors will save it from the ravages of dry, cold air. same goes for indoor forced heat. you must trust me on this.

i have this headband in teal and i get all the compliments when i wear it. it’s excellent quality and not at all uncomfortable. (although it does push your ears forward a smidge, so i cock it back just a bit. no one is the wiser) comes in tons of colors.

i can’t stop thinking about these lilac boots. always in my insta feed. it’s like they know me.

bathroom updates pt. 2

hello! what you are seeing was super scary for me to commit to and do. those little black hex designs.

our contractor was like, “here, take this marker and mark the tiles you want me to pop out. i’m going to lunch. when i get back i’ll do it.”

i was like, “ok, yeah. perfect. i’m on it.”

only several hours passed (thank heavens for contractors long lunches) before i made a mark.

the reality of having to put MARKER on a tile i wasn’t sure i was correct about removing bc i clearly was winging this shit based off several internet pictures combined with the odd floor layout was stressing me the fuck out.

i asked mike (a far better math person than me) to help. he counted while i used strips of painters tape. because MARKER?!?!

i knew i wanted balance but also a bit of haphazzard in terms of concept. like not perfect ok? the result is so so great, don’t you think? i contemplated HARD about not doing it at all bc i was sure i’d fuck it up on my own. but i also knew without a doubt how necessary it was to add some interest to the expanse of floor. without i just think it would have looked so dull and trite.

do not mind the towel. i am going to go with simple roll-up matchstick blinds.

chandelier still not re-hung. it needs a cleaning and our contractor isn’t coming back until we have all the missing pieces so he can do everything all at once. (contractors…amiright?!)

the paint we went with is farrow and ball all white in a matte finish. he did not paint the window trim or the closet door/trim so i am going to do it myself with a warm white (farrow and ball pointing) in an eggshell finish.

i really wanted an exposed brass shower system but it wasn’t in the budget. i was rushed to find the shower system and rushed on a tight budget really sucks. that said i don’t mind the way the black looks one bit. it was 200 bucks at home depot.

we are still shopping for a vanity. without a doubt the hardest thing to settle on because of the small size of the space (54” max), the pre-made vanity widths widely available and the below average budget for said vanity. i was sold on 2 sinks but am now completely UN-sold on 2 sinks. because of the space issue 2 sinks on such a small vanity would completely eliminate any counter space. i don’t really want to “stuff” this area. i’d like it to breathe. who uses the sinks at the same time anyway? also i’d much rather have counter space than 2 sinks. unless we had a larger area to fill (60”+) i think one is sufficient. who’s with me?

we also still need the shower curtains and rods. this is the ONE thing that could make or break this entire renovation. i believe if we went standard rod on an L curve, hung at a standard shower curtain height it will look unexceptional and anyone who came into the bathroom would wonder why we never went with a door. however, i think if we had rods made with brass tubes, soldered together to create a “y” shape and hung the curtains from 112” (eyeballed) it would look so unique and you’d never question why we didn’t go with doors.
