round up of images that are speaking to me today...some of them in tongues. that's weird isn't it?

google has a new image search thingy..

all the images present themselves like a cat in heat...

all butt up in your face.

this is bullshit is what this is...

my pal raina emailed me asking me if i had seen the latest town & country magazine, and i was all...gross...why would i look at that boring magazine. she then told me that a house here in atlanta was in it and had been decorated by miles redd.

so i got in my car and drove to the bookstore to get it, obvs.

oh and he decorated the shit out of it...

the owners are the people behind the orkin (yes, bugs) franchise..

and they are stupid rich.

had to split these 2 images up so that you could get every detail in the pics...

those walls are covered in turquoise satin. SATIN!!!!!!

wait...did you see that lacquered finish on the walls?? and the brass edging?? go back...

rug.

i want to have his shiny, lacquery babies.

big fat white rooms

a lot of people are afraid of white walls.  and white walls can be dreadful in a house.

that's because white is hard to get right.

on a white backdrop everything shows up.

but this can be a good thing.

take this house here:

when i look at this room i see everything in it. it all looks fresh and modern and pretty.  all white rooms could go very cold and antiseptic and i have seen this and i hate it. this room is cozy. take care to notice how they chose a white coffee table, white couch and those two little white ball stools. a very smart move.

i am on the verge of painting every room in my house white. bright white i think. or maybe varying shades throughout so that i can make the most of light. after all in a room that receives little to no natural light an all white room could look dreary and sick.  so do i go superwhite in the brightest rooms and a warmer white in the darker rooms? or is it the opposite?

i have been researching white rooms all week long and reading every single article i can find on the subject.

but i still come up lost and confused.  it's all so maddening!!!!

(i know raina..white people problems)

do any of you have any advice?

here are some white rooms to get your lady juices flowing like the ganges in springtime..

i realize the above image's floor is that pickled wood look but i absolutely LOVE that milky, chalky white on the walls..

this is a warmer white...more cream.

?????

helpsies.

i love friday and i love you

friday is important isn't it?

it's the day before the weekend.

the day you wake up and are happy the shitty week is almost over.

i went for a 3 mile walk today in my favorite neighborhood, druid hills.

big, old mansions built in the 20's and 30's.

i have been walking in this neighborhood for nearly 10 years.

i don't live anywhere near it (i used to) but sometimes i drive over to it, park my car and get out and just go...

i realized i was pregnant with fiona on a walk in this neighborhood. as in it was may and people had fresh dirt in their gardens and all i wanted to do was eat it.

weird, i know. but also a sign of pregnancy.

i really did know in that instant that i was pregnant.

anyway...

friday!!

friday is also the day most bloggers say fuck you!!

i'm outta here!!

and i am including myself in this group this time..

but before i sign off i wanted to give you all a gift for how awesome you are to me. whether you blog or not, whether you comment or don't..

i love you all the same..

sort of like paula deen loves a butter sandwich.

my gift to you is this..

i went through some of my design books old and new and scanned some of my favorite pics.

enjoy and happy farting weekend!!

(sorry, some are more scan-a-licious than others)

could you just die??

that gambrel purple? the soft romantic dining room with the roses on the wall?

the hanging lounge pit in the fucking tropics??? adler's purple desk?

well folks, summer is pretty much here. isn't it?

it's crazy hot and muggy here in atlanta.

when i was a kid we lived in swimming pools. our neighbors had an above ground monstrosity. i loved it though.  in all it's faux wood panelled glory.  kept me cool and happy and out of my parents hair.

let's all ooh and ahh over the pretty rich people's pool with the silver balls.

fiona's bedroom spruce up is still in limbo...we thought lavender walls but now we're not so sure.

one decision has been made though...

she has to have a net...

i know...they're not my favorite either..and i might need your help to convince her that these things are one step away from a design tard's portfolio.

hotness..

more happy place pictures which is what we all need on a sunday bc sundays generally suck

i think we can all agree that sundays are just the day before monday and monday is a beast making sunday the day that is wasted thinking about monday..i know my husband can attest to this one.

so for that i give you happiness in the form of places you want to live in..

the yellow curtains take this belgian-y room into girly pretty...a great marriage i think...

i think we all know how i feel about organized stacks of shit..

richard mishaan made sweet love to this room did he not?

it's glowing and needs a cigarette..

i don't know if this is tile, wallpaper or handpainted, stenciled..what?

but i likes it..

huge ceilings + silk drapes + ocean blue quilt = dumb

traditional, pale, peaceful splendor..

amazing light..

nate doing his best mascu-fem....

spot on gorgeous entry...

it's like a little well decorated pod in a space cave..

a suede egg chair?

why yes, i'll take 2.

golden sconce..

hhaa...okay!! yes, i'll take one of those too!!

i hate hate hate the three matching striped pillows (too sunbrella for me), but fuck that...

the rest is heaven..

another bar, but i can't resist a well styled bar..

i think this is a perfect formal living room set up, so great for cocktails before dinner...and that art is killing me smalls...

i think it's a rumpled bed...

oh tolix...you still are my dream chairs...

not to mention dining table made library table is so chic and practical at the same time...

textural patterned heaven....

a long time fave...

the mix of styles is astoundingly good here...

and last but not least...

not one thing wrong in this room..

well styled, perfect pillows, books serve as focal point (and they're not COLOR CODED!!!), shiny light fixture, patterned couch and the rest is neutral...oh this room is good.

i sure hope your monday thru friday goes quick and painlessly.

i love you fuckers so much!!
