friday things

it’s friday and these are the things i’ve loved this week:

this porch. plus the house it’s attached to and the garden that surrounds it. australia just seems like a magical place.

the best looking cat baskets. ok dog baskets. human baby too.

zara launched swimwear. it’s cute. if you have saggy, giant boobs like me the beachy accessories are worth a gander.

i almost always eat burgers this way rather than on a bun. i typically just throw it on some lettuce and use a knife and fork. sometimes i’ll caramelize onions. this burger salad bowl is a step up and i’m totally in board with it.

chicken thighs, a head of cauliflower, a jar of mango chutney and a sheet pan. easiest dinner ever.

i would totally get my diy on (or dyi if you’re luann) for this turmeric dyed tablecloth.

we need to talk about kim’s house.

very excited about this. all of these women rule + wine memes all day.

ok then. have a glorious weekend. the weather here has been phenomenal. seriously blessed.

mango favorites

i’ve never wanted more from mango.

look at the effortless summery cuteness…

shirt, red pant and sunglasses - my absolute favorite of the bunch. there are matching trousers for the shirt too which are great.

paisley print dress - nailed it.

all the shell jewelry.

flat sandals - which are SO not my thing but these are sexy and cool.

all white. yes.

all blush. also yes. (i am here for 40yo carmen kass showing us all it’s ok to look your age and stuff.)

THIS. KAFTAN.

and all the swimsuits….

scallops. cute. just under 70 dollars fam.

this cute gingham 2 piece. if i wasn’t top heavy i’d be all over this. (bottoms. top.)

these were all just a few of my favorites. there’s so much more to see here. bags, jewelry, dresses, separates…all the thumbs up emojis.

what i packed for asheville

asheville is such a great getaway for us. a few hours north and we have some decent mountain air, good beer and the biltmore. fiona’s favorite.

this time around it was really cold. only warming up to the high 40’s - low 50’s. i knew this going into the trip and packed accordingly. how do you pack for cold mornings into less cold afternoons into cold evenings and still look stylish and cute?

layers obv. and cute accessories and a good coat.

for me it’s all about a high waisted jean with good stretch and a moderate crop. i can pair them with cropped sweatshirts by day and a cute top at night.

also for the first time ever i planned my outfits and it made packing easier. i know this is not rocket science and smart ladies and gents have been doing this forever but i usually just pack the things i like to wear or that look good on me that are seasonally appropriate (and sometimes not. ugh.) and then i cobble outfits together once i get there. dumb.

planning outfits and sticking to them meant i brought only those things and i didn’t over pack which was the first time that’s ever happened to me unless you count the times i’ve under packed which is just as dumb and a result of not. planning. outfits.

i wasn’t winning any fashion awards but i thought i looked pretty pulled together with some smart considerations.

the criteria was comfort, warmth and versatility.

everlane was a big help. their stuff is stylish and simple, well made and affordable.

a great coat is key bc it polishes you up and makes a statement.

mine is from mango and no longer available. similar here and here.

my beret is also no longer available. it came from free people but this one from anthro is almost identical. just no blue. 5 great colors though.

here’s what i packed:

my favorite jeans. levis 724 high rise straight. i have them in it’s all good grey, level out dark and medium wash. they are stretchy. so key. get them.

while i didn’t end up wearing this blouse from need supply it is so great in person. i got a medium and even with my giant cans think i could’ve done a small. it’s also very stretchy.

i love these sweatshirts from everlane. i got the renew fleece in light blue and the oversized fleece in stone. they both have the perfect length for high waisted jeans. i got a small in both and love the fit. they are roomy just where they need to be on me. if you like a little longer length i’d say size up one.

i also snagged a couple of tees from everlane for layering under the sweatshirts. the cotton crew in black and heather grey. got a medium in both. the cut is long and i hate that about t-shirts. i cut mine. shhh.

also brought this button-down from everlane. i got a medium and wish i got a large. noy because the medium didn’t fit, it’s just a very fitted look. i like my button down shirts to be a little oversized. it’s super cute and would be great under a sweater or blazer.

this sweatshirt from madewell was the best to travel in. so soft, and just the right weight. ideal for springy temps. at the time it only came in this pretty muted red and i legit asked the woman at madewell if it came in other colors bc i was prepared to buy them all. well, now it comes in a blue-purple and a creamy white. it is HUGE. i got a small. still big. in the perfect way.

sometimes when i’m smart i’m really smart. i bought this cute little crossbody strap to attach to my top handle bag turning it into a crossbody bag.

i packed these nikes and these tevas (which are remarkably comfy and apparently on trend). i also packed my chloe boots for a fancier me. but i wore them not.

i was very pleased with my choices and how easy and effortless it was to pack once i nailed down my lewks.

questions, comments, concerns?

obsessed ok?

sorry for the silence.

i’ve been spending far too much time thinking about this place:

obsessed. people tend to use that word about things they aren’t actually obsessed with.

in this case, my case….i am actually obsessed.

LOOK AT THOSE COLORS!

i’ve been on an internet pilgrimage these last few days to try to discover the paint colors. the articles that the home has been featured in don’t tell me, other than the living room is “a calming shade of aubergine”. i did some guessing and spent a preposterous amount of time comparing paint colors and i think i know what they are. the living room, while looking taupe-y gray is actually farrow and ball brassica. which is a purple-y gray. the pink in the kitchen and dining room is farrow and ball setting plaster. and the blue in the bedroom is farrow and ball blue ground. (fight me)

all images from here here and here.

so yeah, ordering paint immediately.

bye.
