what is the opposite of hoarding?

bc that's what i've got.

i truly do not hoard anything..

ok..no, that's not entirely true.

i DO hoard everything fiona has ever put on paper.

and i mean everything.

i have a hard time throwing away even a scribble.

i am working on it.

but all the rest?

i can toss or sell something easily.

and i rarely ever miss it.

my husband is the opposite of this.

he is a TOTAL hoarder.

he still gets on to me about the time i gave our flimsy, aluminum, mismatched spoons to goodwill.

saying, "they were perfectly fine".

excuse me for wanting nicer spoons.

anyway...so yeah, sometimes i replace shit with more shit but at least it's better shit...and wait..spoons are important!

where was i?

oh yeah..

getting rid of stuff.

last year i went through my kitchen cabinets and got rid of everything we never used and really pared down to just essentials when it came to dishes and glasses/cups and even gadgets that we NEVER used.

it was great!

i highly recommend it.

although i have since had to replace glasses with more glasses but that was bc shit breaks.

but it's still free of plastic and anything ugly.

i have worked my way through the whole house over the last 6 or so months and i can say that in this house we are mostly free of anything we just don't use anymore.

(this does not include the attic or the garage..but more on that later)

i am working on fiona's room at the moment..

just giving away clothes, some toys, stuffed animals (is there a stuffed animal dumping facility anywhere? bc there needs to be.  a place where all stuffed animals can go to "retire")...etc..

anyway...it's an awesome feeling but i cannot get rid of ANY books.

like, no books can leave this house bc there are too many memories locked up inside them, okay??!!

but as you may know there is 0.00 storage in this old house so everything gets dumped in the garage.

and as you can imagine...that place is sanford and sons.

so..

that brings me to the point of this whole post..

the garage is getting a makeover and it. is. making. me. sweat. with. EXCITEMENT!!!!

(the attic will have to wait until we move bc i refuse to go up there)

i have been pinning garage organization like a mofo.

i have been checking the weather in 10 day spreads so i can see when the 1st warm weekend will be.

i can't wait to clear the whole thing out and see it empty.

i think this is the single most important step you can take to a successfully organized garage.

i am not looking forward to the black widows i will find.

who wants to make a guess as to how many i mike kills?

getting mike on board with this clean out won't be easy or fun but there is an incentive..

he wants to hang a punching bag from a tree in the backyard so he can kick it.  and we all know that shit ain't happening.

but if the garage is nice and clean he can hang it in there.

kick away my friend.

and no, i haven't forgotten about the inside projects you project stalkers..

i will be picking up paint samples for the tv cave today so..don't worry,

we still have fun times ahead of us.

here are some martha tips for cleaning out the garage.
