a little high a little low

yes, i could be talking about my mood but i’m not. i’m talking about a mix of high low for the home.

a cute little bar cart from WALMART- yes we are still doing bar carts.

perla curtain from anthro- these are good. i think they’d go with just about any decorating style.

teal velvet sofa with friiiiinge- this is currently on sale (down from 7k so…😬). but it feels like a sofa that would just get better the more banged up it got.

vintage lion rug- this rug is small (think bathroom or small hallway) but it’s fucking awesome.

linen blend pillow cover- this is real cute. and only 20 bucks.

pagoda headboard- would buy tomorrow.

painterly striped sheet set- hm is coming through with the home goods. these sheets are giving vintage diane von furstenberg. love these and these too.

a little taste

let’s look at some FB MKTPLCE finds. these are local to atlanta and currently saved in my “i might buy that but i won’t” file.

2 bentwood chairs. $65 each. need i say more? but i will. cover them in whatever scraps you have lying around. they are perfect.

2 salterini chairs. $300 for the set. i don’t have to tell you that these go for thousands. this is a steal for real. get a wire brush and go to town. then paint them white. or black depending on your mood. or one white, one black. that’d be cool.

wicker bookcase. $35. cute.

wicker side table. $80. solid.

pair of raffia covered side tables. $150. giving serena and lily wo the price tag. i’m not in awe of these or anything but they are unoffensive and well priced. the pulls are decent but an upgrade wouldn’t hurt.

antique english pine island. $800. well this certainly isn’t a bargain but it’s not crazy considering it’s an antique. would bring the right amount of patina to a sleek kitch sitch.

hand painted cabinet. $375. the details are pretty incredible. would be great in a bathroom for storage or a living room/dining room liquor cabinet thing. or maybe an entry storage scene.

2 chairs and an ottoman. $450 for all. i love them. the fabric isn’t bad. but an updated stripe sans sheen would be 🤌🏼.

end of bed bench. $245. 👍🏼

amish rocking chair. $225. amish? your mom’s amish. i like it a lot tho.

vintage sconce. $30. supercute.

club chair. $200. i like the shape. fabric works fine.

a pair of ikat curtains. $90. if there were another pair i’d be all over them. of all the played out decor trends this is one i can’t quit.

soft launch

so if you read my last newsletter you’ll know that i am very serious about starting a little side biz. i suppose it’s closest to e-design but maybe on a smaller scale. back in the early days of blogging i offered e-design services but i shifted into being a full time artist. e-design is very time consuming and i just didn’t have the knowledge or means required to launch it as a full time business. i.e. auto cad anyone? elevation what? but what i lack in software knowledge i more than make up for in resources and dare i say it…taste? (subjective i know) i am not trying to compete with legitimate interior designers here and if you can do that by all means do. but maybe you just need a little guidance on what size rug to buy or where to buy a great vintage rug that doesn’t kill the budget. also sometimes it’s hard choosing things for yourself, whether that’s a sofa or a rug or a paint color or anything in between. and just maybe another opinion is all you need. you want an entire room redo? i got you there too.

before i start not making sense let me show you what i’ve come up with thus far. now mind you…this is all very unpolished and unprofesh looking as it’s the beginning (literally made it in 20 minutes). things will change. fonts will improve, descriptions will be more thorough and the details will be clearer. I am willing to negotiate just about anything here so don’t hesitate to ask questions and offer advice if you feel called to.

paint consult- this is exactly what it sounds like. what it is is you need help picking a paint color for a room and i pick 3 colors for you to choose from. let’s say you want white paint but don’t know what white to choose (who ever does honestly?) i will choose 3 shades for you that fit the bill based on the natural light the room receives and everything else you’ve got going on- your style, existing furniture, the view outside (yep that matters) etc. let’s say you have no idea what color you want to paint the room, literally no clue- i will choose 3 colors after we’ve narrowed down the do’s and don’t’s. i love purple but most people hate it so i probably won’t chose purple for you if you hate it. maybe. after discussing things we can make it whatever you need it to be.

now let’s say you want it to be blue and need help finding the perfect blue. i will choose 3 blues.

bottom line- $50 to me to choose 3 colors for you. if you’ve got more than one room we can do an add on per any additional room. as with any of these services please reach out to me prior to purchase if you have any questions. all purchases will be followed up with a specific questionnaire. this service will include wallpaper as well. same guidelines. 3 choices.

one room moodboard-

in a nutshell this is me working with what you already have if that’s a priority and finding new items that you need to incorporate. obviously working within your budget and having lengthy discussions about errthang. that questionnaire will really come in handy here. included will be a floor plan that i will literally draw on paper, a private, shared pinterest board for links and collaboration, a final moodboard to see it all together. it’s important to note that i am not a trade licensed interior designer and i do not have access to those trade things. so shopping on your end will be done online or in stores that you can visit in person that i can access online.

facebook marketplace finds- iykyk. i can find anything. the basics- i will find 10 items in your marketplace location of choice.

a la carte- maybe you need a sofa and that’s it. maybe you need a pair of shoes for a wedding, or a dress for a wedding or both? i will provide you with 3 options. easy peasy. i hope it goes without saying but- your budget, body type and style are the priority.

at the end of the day this probably has a better name than outfit guide🙄 but we’re going with it for now- i will work with existing pieces that you love and help you find items to enhance that. or i can start from scratch based on what you need most. this will be another pinterest collab with links and a moodboard so you can see things together.

it’s been a minute since i gazed upon a home that gave me flutters. lucy williams’ house may have been the last. and honestly not even all of it, mainly that blue room.

but this brooklyn apartment has me locked up. it belongs to romilly newman, a chef and food stylist.

it’s pretty devoid of color which typically gets bombastic side eye from me but when you have ridiculous architecture/windows/ceiling height not much can ruin it. it’s a great mixing of styles which remains the only way to decorate ever. also good candles. and the kitchen is literally chef’s kiss.
