vaccine updates!

i’m fine! more than fine. i’m apparently the 1 in 10 who have no side effects from this vaccine.

here’s what i did if you want to follow my steps- (though it’s a mystery to scientists as to who gets side effects and who doesn’t and here’s a great article on that.)

step 1. - i ate something before leaving and i brought a BIG glass of water with me and i downed it right after i got the 💉.

step 2- got home and continued to drink water consistently for the rest of the day. like, a lot. had a small glass rather than a big glass so that i would have to continue to fill it up thus reminding myself to drink. i’d say i would drink half that glass every 20 minutes or so on average. sometimes a little more sometimes a little less in quantity but ALWAYS EVERY 20 MINUTES.

sidenote- this was more water than i typically drink for sure in a day and it was pretty eye opening to me in terms of how fatigued i am pretty much all day usually. i thought is this the vaccine?? why do i feel so good? i think i can attribute this to the amount of water i was drinking. BIG DIFFERENCE.

anyway…

about 6-8 hours after the shot i still felt fine (if not GOOD) and was like…did i get a fake shot? i didn’t even feel sleepy or woozy which i did almost immediately with the first shot. the wooziness subsided almost as quickly as it came but the sleepiness stuck around for about 2 days. but again, this could also be attributed to the fact that i feel like this CONSTANTLY anyway. so, i was still taking it easy just because i had planned for a man down situation. my arm started to feel a little tender around now.

my arm hurt the first time so this was also expected. although my arm started hurting much sooner the first time and much worse. i got the first shot in my left arm and that was a mistake because it’s my sleeping side. do not do that if you haven’t got your shot already. get it in your non sleeping arm. trust me. it hurts most when you put pressure on it as opposed to activity.

step 3- i had planned on taking an advil about 6 hours after the shot to stave off any aches/fever. i still felt good so i held off. i would take an advil right before bed no matter what. i armed myself with 2 huge glasses of water and said advil, swallowed it and got into bed. i had heard that most people start to feel like assdong about 10-15 hours post shot so i was definitely not in the clear. i was more anxious than anything trying to get to sleep. i just kept thinking am i gonna wake up at midnight? 3 am? feeling like i got into a car accident?

it never happened. i woke up and still felt fine. zero symptoms. in fact i think i was trying to invent symptoms! if i had to report anything unusual it would be hunger. which again, not that unusual for me but it was a hunger that was more like a craving. if that makes sense.

here we are almost 48 hours later and i’m still fine. who knows maybe there is some latent side effect situation but all doctor google has provided is that arm thing that happens to some people.

so that’s that. drink water i guess. but do that anyway. because i still think it’s pretty random
