lonny thoughts

here's my deal-

we wait and wait and wait and wait

for lonny.

and then it gets here and

1. it's the GREEN issue. (rolls eyes)

i like things that are green.

i like things that support other things that need supporting.

i don't use commercial cleaners, i use vinegar..not just as a deliciously gross drink but as a cleaner for just about everything in my home.

so green = good,

but "insanely proud of" and "larger than ever and jam packed with inspiration"?!?

really?

maybe i am rainman but when i flipped to the blogger page at the end i was like...

"is that it?!!"

and i beg to differ on the "jam packed with inspiration" bit.

2. i think 3 of the homes featured i had seen already..including wearstler's store.

and while all of the homes in the issue were beautiful and homes i would make out with if given half the chance..

it was still kind of a let down.

i know in this day of the blog and pinterest it's hard to NOT see everything a million times..

but to wait like 4 months or whatever for a publication to come out only to have it be filled with places i have seen is

a bummer.

3. the homes.

pretty.

yeah, i guess so.

anna burke's place gave everyone wood, and it is always nice to see a home worked out with supreme skill on a major budget..because it's just a bigger accomplishment in my opinion and more relatable.

but the rest of the homes were pretty darn blah.

all of them mashed together in their blah-ness made it all the more blah.

here's what i did like-

mixed up furniture, juju hat and diy art.

budget decorating at it's best.

though those juju hats aren't in my budget.

harrumph.

k dub's bathroom.

it's insane and wonderful.

i would be honored to leave a turd in her toilet.

yep.

fur on rattan.

unexpected and awesome.

i am obsessed with that mirror.

there was no link for it (murder laser side eye) but i think it could be an easy diy.

square shaped mirror and ceramic balls?

porcelain balls?

glue made from unicorns?

i love bunny williams's entire lamp collection for beeline home.

and while i would never pay 600 dollars for a wasp comb with some shards of glass shoved into it..

i DESPERATELY WANT IT!!!

fyi...

i have about 3 wasp combs living on my house in the summer that i will mike will gather and shove glass into.

so..what are your thoughts on this long awaited lonny issue?

trad home came with the smackdown

someone has been drinking their tiger blood...

the folks at traditional home magazine and lonny magazine birthed a shiny new online magazine and i enjoyed at least 97% of it.

beyond the 19 (!!!), mostly awesome,  featured homes there were useful tips and interesting articles

and not too many of them for people like me who thinking reading is dumb.

but, alas there were some interiors that hate-fucked my eyes.

like...

this:

and this:

this:

and (murder) this:

but mostly there was this:

delites.

thanks guys.

don't fuck it up.

lonny drops today my little sugarplums..

i'll give you a quarter if you can tell me who designed this room.

attention:

i will be having lunch with 2 hussies from new york down for the lavish conference.

hussy #1:

nicole-

and

hussy #2:

erica-

check in later for some lonny recaps and lunch gossip.

we can either talk about this or my diarrhea..

so yeah, lonny OCT/NOV came out yesterday..

lot's of you have pointed out to me that you hate the blogosphere when this happens bc it's all anyone posts about.

i haven't seen any other posts about it yet, other than raina's..

if you haven't even seen it yet, then go away from here and go visit lonny and look at it.

then email me private like so we can talk about my diarrhea instead. cuz you know it's what i really want to talk about.  and come back here anyway so you can see my favorites.

ok.

it's good.  really really rully good.

in fact i have nothing bad to say.

i mean, yes there is some trellis here and some pattern explosion there but i loved it anyway..

loved it lots.

if i have anything negative to say it would be to lonny as a whole...

more kitchens please.

not one kitchen in this issue. not many kitchens in any of the issues..

whysies??

anyway..

the best...

just now noticed the art in the middle of the wall is a canvas painted the same color as the wall.

cool.  it works.  this is lulu dk's house. and it was all very very pretty.

i am a whore for sconces and also for dressers as nightstands.

this is a hotel somewhere and i want to go to it.

the view makes up for the baby tub.

what what?

look at that little chrome chair and that giant highboy hutch thing beyond...

i have been looking on craigslist for quite sometime for one of those.

they are usually too expensive even for craigslist.

plus i have no room for one.

someday.

this is palmer weiss's dining room

it's very sweet, and simple and still minimal enough to make it modern.

it's very attainable looking.

like.

this is john robshaw's connecticut country house..

it's sooo not typical country house fodder.

it's fucking amazing and i die for it.

homey loves to hang a textile.

kind of want fiona's room to look exactly like this one.

also j. robshaw's house.

but my fave fave FAVORITE in the bunch was celerie kemble's  central park highrise...

this bathroom speaks to me on many levels..the wallpaper, the matching painted trim, the sconces, the sweet little towel bar.  i have searched high and low for a cute, SMALL towel bar.  but more than anything i can't think of a more appropriate collection of art than EXPLODING volcanos!!

esp. today....

email me for diarrhea details.

ok so the tribal dudes flanking the buffet are kind of scary they are also very kind of cool and this whole dining room is fantastic.  very rich and luxurious, but not at all stuffy or uninviting.  this is what a formal dining room should be.

velvet delites.

cozy, inviting, fun, warm...

way to go michelle and patrick and everyone involved with this issue.

i hope you continue on this winning streak of awesomeness.

what are your thoughts on this issue, readers?

lonny. meh?

*sigh*

kath kidston's place was...cute...cheery...bright..some of it would make my eyes bleed after a while...i did like the bedroom's color palette:

mushroom, red and white with dark wood.

the walls (i think) are striaed.  i like this.  adds texture.

hate the motel 6 curtains.

junky bedside tables for a photoshoot..yay or nay?

some might say this is good bc it shows real living..

vincent wolf's montauk house..

homie loves to prop up a picture. (and a mirror)

pretty and relaxed as this place was, i was woefully bored.

the brougham fellow.

loved the brown plaid chairs.

unexpected and great with the deep gray.

a pretty vignette.

and the ryan korban designed space was lovely..

somebody boho jenschke:

that lamp is fantastic.

this place was giving us lots of west elm..

overall i did enjoy this place.

overall i enjoyed lonny.  just no supremelove.

better than this month's house (not)beautiful.

eye bleeder:

some thoughts:

rachel ashwell's london flat: was this some sort of homage?

it failed to inspire.

kath kidston's place got the most coverage while rachel ashwell's coverage was marginal.

i liked all of these spaces

..but i am starting to feel like maybe we are getting too many little shots of cups on a table filled with feathers...or......

while i like these shots and i get the point..

i feel somewhat frustrated by them.

do you hear me people?

thoughts?
